Recognizing the continuing importance of 270Mbps in digital video transport, Nevion has developed a suite of Ventura fiber and SONET/SDH TDM multiplexers that uses 270Mbps as the standard time slot. Ventura products make it easy to aggregate signals of varying formats and bandwidth requirements into SDTI or DVB-ASI. The resulting signals can then be efficiently transmitted over IP, SONET/SDH or fiber.
Ventura products can readily be combined to aggregate and transmit video signals of any format. In addition to directly managing a single video signal, SDTI and HD-SDTI can each be used as a transport protocol for multiplexed video of multiple formats. Some of the six input channels in a VS861 HD multiplexer may carry previously multiplexed ASI, SD-SDI, compressed HD-SDI and TV1 signals, while others may carry uncompressed HD-SDI. Signal aggregation can similarly populate transport streams for DVB-ASI or Internet protocol. Using this approach enables Nevion customers to obtain ongoing returns from their existing 270Mbps infrastructure, while also expanding their networks in new directions.
