The VS901-TAx-27 allows the user to leverage existing 270Mbps infrastructure for the transport of high definition contribution video, or multiple standard definition video signals, without requiring the build-out of additional infrastructure. Using state-of-the-art JPEG 2000 technology to compress HD for 270Mbps transmission, Nevion offers cost-effective solutions for the highest quality, lowest latency HD transport. As described in the application note Optimizing Throughput on 270Mbps Networks, Nevion equipment can be deployed to enable a 270Mbps connection to carry:

• One channel of compressed HD-SDI plus two channels of compressed SDI and an ASI channel
• Up to five different channels of high quality, low latency JPEG 2000 – compressed SD-SDI

Furthermore, because the network interface can be either SMPTE 305M – SDTI or DBV-ASI, the compressed video in the transport layer can be transparently transported over any infrastructure that can carry 270Mbps signals. There are several Nevion products that multiplex ASI or SDTI signals, providing a variety of options for aggregated transport of video sent initially through a 270Mbps connection.
